Transforming Drawing into Darkroom Prints by Cliché Verre

​​​​​Workshop Description

This is a 2 hours experimental workshop based on drawing on transparent film, followed by B&W printing and development at Fotoverkstedet under professional guidance by Lexy Liangzi Xiao. Cliché Verre is originally a print made by placing light sensitive photographic paper beneath a glass plate or a transparent material, where a design has been scratched through an opaque coating, and then exposed to light to get an inverted image on a photo paper. The workshop will provide 1 piece of transparent film and limited amounts of photographic paper per person, and the chemistry for the development. Participants can bring a drawing on a piece of transparent film (size about 4x5 inches) for the printing, instead of finishing a drawing at the workshop.
